I know it’s late, but HAPPY EASTER!!!  He is risen!

Most people that know me know that Easter is my favorite
holiday.  Not only because of peeps, Easter
egg hunting, beautiful spring time weather and traditions with family, but the
most important reason of them all – Jesus!
I love that it’s a holiday to celebrate the time in which Jesus
sacrificed His life for our sins and transgressions and rose three days later,
defeating the Cross!  Victory!

Usually I spend Easter decorating eggs with my siblings,
eating delicious finger foods throughout the day and end it enjoying a
scrumptious meal with my family, which always includes ham.  This year looked a little different.  Actually, much different…

This year I spent Easter with all 54 people in my K-Squad
family in Kampala, Uganda at a sweet backpacker’s hostel.  We had a GREAT time!  After a long 15 hour bus ride the night
before from Kigali, Rwanda, we slept in and enjoyed waking up later than we have
in a while.  We made our way out to a
field that the hostel was letting us use in the afternoon for an exciting “egg
hunt,” which actually entailed snickers in place of eggs.  Delightful!
Then, my fellow racer, Currie, led us in a World Race version of Ships
and Sailors.  If you’ve ever played
before, you know how amusing it is!  We
then decided that the last two people left would participate in sock wrestling to
conclude who was best!

The first sock wrestling session led to two hours’ worth of
the whole squad challenging each other and it was a BLAST!  It served as a great bonding session for all
of us and we decided that it’s a great new way to duke out “feedback” (Just
kidding!).  A little while after that, we
rejoiced in the Lord through worship and had the opportunity to hear Tyler and
Cindi share a message with us.  We
enjoyed communion at the end, along with great worship led by Hannah and Austin
in the rain!  It was a great Easter!

My meal, however, involved two pieces of wheat bread, an
avocado, tuna and a passionfruit.  Not
what you would consider a traditional Easter meal, but you can’t imagine how
grateful I was for some of my favorite foods!

All in all, this was an Easter down in the books.  I hope you, too, had a fantastic day of
celebrating Jesus Christ!

We are now in Nairobi, Kenya for a night resting from a long
17 hour bus ride and I will be leaving tomorrow with Tommy to spend our first
two weeks with two wonderful teams in Eldoret!
Another long 12 hour bus ride awaits me tomorrow!  I miss all of you!
