As I look to the remaining weeks of my Race and seek what things lie beyond it, I want to reflect on all I’ve walked through which has led me to this point. During these last 11 weeks of my Race, I’m focusing on sharing big lessons I’ve learned through small moments in each of the countries I’ve ventured to.

Week One: China

Week Two: Thailand

Week Three: Reflecting on Month Three – Cambodia

In the kingdom of Cambodia, I beheld some of the most beautiful scenes of nature that rivaled anything I’d ever seen before. In southeast Asia, rooftop spaces are utilized more than in the US. Often, hostels or cafes will have hammocks and furniture available from which you can sit and enjoy the view. It became a beautiful habit during this month for me to awake early and spend time with my Father on rooftops throughout this nation and watch the sunrise.

From my journal on November 14, 2013:

“Time with Abba on the roof of Royal Hotel in Battambang. How sweet and sacred have my times on and the space of rooftops become to me in Thailand and Cambodia.

The sunstorm that broke out this morning left me in awe of You. Rain “…a beautiful display of power and surrender….”

The bright clouds in the midst of downpour are such a picture of His covering and Presence – His faithfulness regardless of our situation.

Thank You, my precious Abba, for Your heart and Your character. For Your steadfastness. For the beauty I behold right now, on this roof.

“The deeper Your love, the higher it goes. Every cloud is a flag to Your faithfulness.” Psalm 57:10.

You reign above it all, even as it rains.

Yes. No matter how heavy of a storm, You reign.”

From my heart,

Erika

PS – This will be my last blog post for a few weeks. In June I will be in Swaziland without internet access. Thank you so much for sharing in my journey by reading my blog. Feel free to peruse older posts that you might have not yet read.

I’ll undoubtedly continue writing this coming month and look forward to sharing it here in July!

Peace to you all.
