The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:11-12

These hands will be some of the most exalted hands that I know. Let me introduce you to Cathy and Debbie; two of the most humble and beautiful women I have had the opportunity to meet.

A lose definition of the caste system in India is this: a system in which your importance to society is based on family, income, and religion. Our translator; Cathy told us that in India being a Christian automatically puts you at the bottom of the system, the lowest caste. Being a woman also automatically ranks you below the male gender. Basically according to the social system here in India, by following to choose Christ these women have chosen to make themselves the least of these.

These two women loved and served the ladies of team Nahala so well this month. They were the hands and feet of Christ to us. In a country and culture so different than our own, they graciously accompanied us on shopping trips making sure we were properly dressed in punjabis and had a few fun accessories too. (Bangles were a must!) They answered our dozens of questions about the area, the culture and their lives. They translated when the food was too spicy and helped us get coconut water on the way to ministry. They arranged to have a lady come to where we were staying so we  could get henna and made sure it didn’t have any of the Hindu symbols in it. They loved us well. They humbled themselves to serve us this month. Once again it feels like we have been blessed more than we have been a blessing to them.

Really it wasn’t just these two women. We were served well by so many people here in India. Once again, we got to experience the beauty of the body of Christ in another country and culture.
