Introducing…Team Iron Life
One of the most awaited parts of training camp is when we find out who will be on our teams. This is a smaller group within our squad that we will start the trip living and serving with. Overall an important group of people. I would like to introduce you to my team; team Iron Life.
Our final group exercise of the week before teams were announced is where we got our name. It wasn’t the smoothest, or really even a fun filled exercise compared to some of the past couple days. Our group didn’t even finish, in fact we struggled. After the exercise we were discussing what happened and a few of our trainers for the week spoke to us what they felt God had for our team. Each of us is a leader, we are all strong willed individuals and we each have something to teach the others about leadership. (That’s my paraphrased version) The hope is that we would be a team where iron sharpens iron. It would take intentionality and effort to come together as a team…especially a team of leaders but if we were willing to make the effort to do that we could be an amazing team.
A few hours later our teams were officially revealed and we set out for some team bonding time. In that time we needed to come up with our name. We talked about what was spoken over us and decided it was what we wanted. We wanted to create a team, an atmosphere, a life style where it would be possible to let iron sharpen iron, to build each other up.. We settled on the name Iron Life, as a way of saying this IS the life style we are choosing to live as we begin this journey.

I would like to invite you to check out my teammates blogs. Read them. Get to know their hearts. Pray for them. Pray for us as a team. I honestly don’t know what it looks like to create this life style we have decided to chase after. I know our love for God is at the center of it. I know we will be looking to the Spirit for wisdom. I know that I already love these crazy amazing people and can’t wait to dive in with them.
