I have had the pleasure of going through airport security 5 times in the past 3 weeks.

Once was when my sister Elyssa, my mother and I were allowed to go to the gate with Jaimie when he left for his deployment.
Two other times where when I flew to and from Detroit to visit my dear friend Layla.
And the final two were this past week when I flew down to Orlando to visit my father for Christmas.
I usually wear flip flops year round.  I don’t really like shoes and they seem to be a good compromise.  I especially like to wear them anytime I am going through security because it makes the line much faster than having to take my shoes on and off.  But before Jaimie left, he gave me this big lecture about how I need to “take care of his wife while he is gone”… blah blah blah.  ๐Ÿ™‚  So I decided to actually wear the boots that he bought for me a few Christmases ago.
The pros?
My feet were toasty warm!
The cons?
Airport security is EXTRA annoying to go through!
And as I waited in those security lines, I really started to think.  I started to think about the power of one.
Richard Reid (AKA wannabe shoe bomber) tried to blow up American Airline flight 63 all the way back in 2001!  And every airline passenger ever since has had to strip down their tootsies and have their shoes x-rayed.  Way to go, Reid!

And yet, when you share your heart with someone (I know that YOU, dear reader, have had this experience also) about how you want to change the world… aren’t you met with so much speculation?  Like one person can’t change the world.  Like it isn’t possible.
Jesus was one man, and He definitely changed the world!  (Yes, I know that he is one section of the Trinity-which is really THREE, but let’s not split theological hairs.  You get my point. ๐Ÿ™‚ )
Though none of us will change the world as much as Jesus did, we can still change it for the better.  If one knucklehead with a failed shoe bomb could make enough waves that we are still feeling them 9 years later, why is it so hard to believe that you and I can make a lasting change?
We, each of us, are just one.
But each of us is THE ONE who is here to accomplish the task set before us.  Let us not get discouraged- this is THE POINT of our lives!
Thank you for reading my thoughts. ๐Ÿ™‚
