Hello there to all my friends, family, and supporters!
My name is Erica Prucker and I am so thrilled to announce that I have been accepted to the World Race!! And after much prayer, contemplation, and procrastination I am finally writing my first blog. 🙂 Thank you to all of those who have been so patient with me so far (a.k.a. mom and dad). I want to start by just sharing a little bit about myself.
Like I said, my name is Erica and I am 21 years old. I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina and currently live with my amazing parents and am the youngest of three girls. Growing up, I was homeschooled and was very involved in Girl Scouts, Venturing, Soccer, Youth Group and much more! I am currently enrolled in Central Piedmont Community College and am working on my Associates in Arts. I also work as a Student Ministry Intern at Forest Hill Church and am a server part time.
One of the things that I love the most about God is how he can surprise you. He can change your mind, heart, and life all in a matter of seconds with His abounding grace and love. He has the power to instill passions in you that you never knew you could have. Over the past 4 years of being involved at Forest Hill Church, God has instilled in me a huge passion for ministry. But the crazy thing is that God didn’t stop there. Last summer He blessed me with the amazing opportunity of co-leading a high school mission trip to the Dominican Republic and there He opened my eyes to what the world was like. How much the world needed Jesus and He gifted me with another passion. A passion for missions.
Every reason for not going on this race; he has destroyed. Every doubt that’s crossed my mind; He has erased. I have faith that every need I will have, He will meet and I am so excited about that! He lit a fire in my heart for missions and I want to travel the world telling people about Him. I want to fill my life with moments that matter and to help change the world for His glory!
Where am I going? The World Race offers many different routes to a variety of different countries. I have been lucky enough to have been accepted to the August Route 3 and the countries it includes are: Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Burkina Faso, India, Nepal, Cambodia, Thailand, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Belize. I will be launching in the beginning of August and will be spending one month in each country partnering with local churches and organizations to help meet the needs of each community while spreading the Gospel.
How can you help? Well there are many things that you can do to help me on my journey!
- Pray! Prayer is probably one of the most important things that you can do to support me in this process. For it says in Matthew 19:26 that “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Prayer is a powerful thing and I will need as much of it as I can get!
- Read and Share my Blogs! This next year and a half is probably going to be the craziest of my entire life and I want to share every moment with you! Not only will reading and following my blogs give you updates and insights into my journey, but it also offers the opportunity to support my mission trip financially.
- Donate! I have only 6 months to raise roughly $18,000 (after purchasing equipment and other expenses) and that scares me beyond belief. I have never had to fundraise this amount of money before and I know it will be challanging, but I know God will be with me every step of the way!
You can make a one-time donation or make a monthly donation pledge.
There are 3 ways you can donate:
- Check/Money Order – They should be payable to Adventures in Missions with my name in the memo line (PRUCKERERICA) and mailed to: Adventures in Missions, PO Box 742570, Atlanta, GA 30374-2570. ***Please mail only one check per envelope, as checks are processed mechanically.***
- Credit Card/Bank Transfer – Click on the “Support Me” link on the left-hand side of this blog site, and you will be directed through the process of making a one-time, monthly, or quarterly gift by credit card or bank transfer. ***This does have a transaction fee!***
- Lastly, EFT (Dynapay) – Go to adventures.org/dynapay to fill out an online form for a monthly Electronic Funds Transfer from a checking account. ***No transaction fee will be charged for donations made through EFT.***
Finally, I just wanted to thank you for taking time out of your day to read this very long post. 😀 I appreciate your prayers and support more than words can say and I can’t wait to see what God is going to do in this next year and a half! Thank you.
Blessings,
Erica Prucker
