One of the questions we are asked is the expectations we have for this 11 month journey on the World Race, so I took the time to write down a list. These expectations are not only statements but questions that I'm sure I will be asking by the time we step back onto United States soil. Enjoy! 🙂
1. I will be dirty 75% of the time…or more.
2. My hair will lose all its lusciousness.
3. Showering? Uhhhh….What's that again?
4. I will enjoy and appreciate monsoons.
5. I will better understand the value of a dollar (or a shilling…or a baht…or a quetzal..etc)
6. I will be the most claustrophobic I have ever been.
7. Who needs a washer and dryer when you have a perfectly capable sink?
8. Snakes, spiders, and mosquites…oh my! (enough said)
9. Oh, I'm sorry, I thought that open hole in the ground was my potty.
10. What side of the road will we drive on here?
11. I will be the best bargain shopper ever.
12. Airplane food will either be my best friend or my worst enemy.
13. I will understand the meaning of authentic community.
14. My World Race squad mates will be my family for those 11 months.
15. I will know Jesus more than I did before…ever.
16. Every trial will have a victory to follow.
17. Public transportation will be my friend.
18. God will be the ONLY security I will be able to cling to.
19. No plan is permanent until it has happened. In other words, I will be forced to be flexible.
20. I will be crazy and I will probably have eaten more kinds of animal than are in the Lion King!
21. I will see more and do more for the Kingdom than I could ever dream.
22. My headphones will be the gateway to my alone time…and possibly my sanity?
23. Speaking of alone time, is that truly possible? Maybe if I close my eyes long enough….
24. I will get over my fear of heights.
25. I will meet hundreds of people and if I only help just one person to understand the love of our Savior, the time, energy, and effort will be all worth it.
