“We should go into the forest…for a new beginning.”
A friend of mine always said movies spoke the wisdom of God. I saw a glimpse of that tonight in a movie called Apocalypto. No other movie I could have seen tonight would have been as appropriate. The tale involves a young man rising up to face his destiny and having destiny rising up beside him. He overcomes fear with his eyes. He runs, not away, but to. He remains nameless till he is able to shout it proudly in the face of his enemies. In the same way, as I am about to start this journey, I must face fear, I must find identity, I must start a new beginning.
Six years ago I watched a film in the same harlingen texas theatre called “The Patriot”. Another Mel Gibson related film about fighting with your heart in your heartland…USA. Still early in my spiritual journey, I have fought my own battle with my heart. Now I have been called out, such as this young man in apocalypto. To go into the forest…for a new beginning. Battles I will continue to face. But I will fight them without fear. Fear destiny and you will fight against, fear not and it will rise before you.
