What we are doing

It has been a jumbled list of things that we have been doing in Kanchanaburi, Thailand for the last week or so. Before I delve too deep into what we have been doing, I must note that for the first time all race, its just men. That’s right, no women. Four guys out in the jungle, doin manual labor, lovin the Lord. We are Team Man-istry. We are men.

We wrestle goats for the goal of de-worming them. That was fun. We established our dominance.

We live in a tree house. Set above the ground to keep out the snakes and panthers, we stay safe and dry in our sweet open air home.

We are lumberjacks. We saw trees in twain with old fashioned two man saws. Hard work, but we establish our dominance.

We dig holes. We move earth in order to establish our dominance.

We lift heavy things. We are hired muscle. We put heavy things where they are supposed to be, thereby establishing our dominance.

We work out. After a long day of work, we make sure our bodies are as worn out as possible, to assist in the future establishing of dominance.

We eat. We enjoy the amazing bounties that Thailand has to offer in the best food we have eaten all year. Revitalizing our dominant bodies.

We sharpen each other as iron sharpens iron. We preach at the informal church in the house. We discuss theological issues, and figure out who would be what Lord of the Rings character (I am Faramir). We disciple each other as we live out our lives here in the jungle. Its been an awesome time out here.
