Well it has only been a few days since we arrived here in Mexico, but letting go of our collective American roots is proving to be difficult thus far. We spent New Years day almost completely in silence and in prayer. It was a great way to christen our new year. But we are still very American. Today I was helping the girls on our team to repack their bags in a more efficient manner. It is a fine line to walk to attempt to abandon all and to go forth efficiently. I looked at all the stuff the girls brought, choked out the words, “oh thats no problem,” meanwhile thinking in my head these girls are in for a rude awakening. The girls asked me to tell them what was excess and what they should keep. Everytime I told them they should get rid of something, from extra shampoo bottles to clothes pins, they looked at me as if I was crazy. So after plenty of arguments and rebuttles, we accomplished practically nothing. But I have a feeling that it won’t take long before they decide on their own that some of what they brought isn’t necessary. I am sure that it won’t take long before we are all slapped in the face with the realities of what we really signed up for.

We are also blessed to have a couple of last year’s racers with us. They have been telling us plenty of stories and giving us lots of tips. The more I hear the more excited I get. They were part of so many life changing experiences. I know that as we leave for Palenque in a few days it will truly be the beginning of something special. God has His hand all over this ministry and the Holy Spirit is moving. The first night we were all praying in a small room and there was a moment in which the Holy Spirit fell upon us. I was able to feel Him come into the room and I literally became dizzy as I was overwhelmed by it. In the same way I feel overwhelmed by what we are actually going to be doing. But I know that it is not by my strength in which I will be able to accomplish anything but through Jesus He will do amazing things through us. Please pray for our safety as we are about to travel to Palenque. Thank you all for your support! I am thrilled by the way the Lord has blessed my financially. So thank you all for being so generous with me!
