Going off the grid!
Or at least the internet while in China! Yes, I know a month without internet….it’s going to be a stretch! Just so you know now, I will try to write blogs off line so the experience will be shared, just a tad slower than usual. But why? Why would you choose to go without internet intentionally?
1. Dependence on God As a squad we have all decided to “fast” from the internet while in China! Instead of spending countless hours on the internet this month we are choosing to give up a comfort to further press into what God has instore for us. Because at the end of the month is the FINAL deadline for fundraising! I am BLESSED and GRATEFUL to be fully funded but I know a lot of my squad members are not quite their yet. Rather than depending on our own actions of Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Skype/etc to have a final fundraising push, we have decided to use that time in PRAYER! I am stoked to hear the stories in July of how God provided the remaining funds!
2. Respecting our Ministry China is a “closed” religious country and phones/internet use is monitored. To be respectful and protect our ministry contacts in China, we are going to abstain from even the slightest slip up in wording an email poorly by just avoiding it all together. Yes, we are going to be safe and are not in any danger whatsoever going to China….just have to be respectful and make wise choices. From what I have heard from missionaries that have served in China is that the harvest is ripe and people are eager to hear about Jesus in China. If staying off the internet will help more Chinese people come to know and follow Jesus, then I am ALL IN for staying for staying off the internet.
This is going to be a challenging month but I am excited to witness how God is going to show up and show out! I have never intentionally given up internet before so I am intrigued to see what happens this month when I choose to give up a fleshly desire to further grow spiritually. This is just another tangible way of dying to yourself to further advance the Gospel!
Be Bold and Be Intentional in whatever God is calling you to do to further bring praise to His name!
