Rest.

The biggest thing God taught me this month was to rest in His presence. Right from the get go of this month God took my toenail and rest was in order to recover and I have been learning more and more as the month went on.

Before I would judge my days by how much I accomplished during the day. Did I exercise. Did I get all my errands done. Did I make it to all my appointments on time. Did I contribute at work. Did I work closer to achieving a goal. Did I serve today. Did I break out of my comfort zone. Etc. There is plenty of “did I” statements that we all use at the end of the day to judge whether or not the day was productive. I know I used to do that all time and I viewed days staying at home as “wasted.” That I needed to go out and get something done to feel like the day was successful. I mean 20 years from now are you going to remember the fond memories of the days you spent in your house reading or cleaning or “relaxing” with the tv or you fill in the blank ____. I struggled with this for years and their is nothing wrong with those activities in the correct proportions to everything else. I told myself what I am going to remember 20 years from now is the adventure, the quest for something new, the personal achievement.

Yet God has been teaching me and something that I am going to develop the rest of my life is that resting in His presence is perfectly fine! Being still in His presence is more than enough. That a day isn’t based on my works but rather my relationship with Christ. Did I personally grow closer to Christ or did I spend it pursuing earthly desires? The beauty of it all is God is constantly drawing you to Him, all you have to do is be open to Him. He is ever present, His love is perfect, He is longing for more of you, His desire is YOU!!! How AWESOME is that!

The coolest thing is how easy it is to make God apart of your day! Be in constant prayer! Worship constantly whether it be in songs or your actions. Invite God into whatever you are doing. Here when working around the compound either hauling water, gardening, moving bricks, painting, electrical work, cooking, etc it was encourage that you invite God to do it with you. Say, Father will you carry this water jug with me. Will you cook this meal with me. It completely changes you mindset.

Here is one of Zealous Love memory verse that fits oh so perfectly with this. “Set your minds on things above, not on earthy things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:2-3.

Stay kingdom focused, rest in His presence, and invite God into all that you do.
