“You will need root canal treatment and the cost is estimated to around $1000.”
When I heard my dentist say this I was confused. Here I am in the process of raising support for the World Race and trusting that God will provide it all when I hear that I will need to spend $1000 on a tooth. “What are you doing God?” It was just recently that I had come off my parents insurance and never had any major dental work in the past, so I was a bit discouraged that it happened when it did. I had two initial thoughts; the first one was that maybe God didn’t want me to leave right now. Maybe He was closing the door to leave in June and was opening one to a later departure date. As I thought about that I became willing to follow God on a later route if necessary. I knew that if He would close the door it was because He was opening a better one.
My second thought was that maybe God was setting the stage for something big. Maybe He was allowing this additional obstacle to come up so that He will be glorified by displaying His greatness to overcome this.
So what is God doing?
To be honest, I still don’t know what He is going to do with this, but I know what He is doing right now; He is working in my heart and in my life and equipping me to be more like Him. He is bringing me down to my roots and reminding me of why I am doing what I am doing. Just like root canal, He is removing the infection that is in my heart and replacing it with Himself and giving me solid roots that lead to Christ. And so yes, I do need to spend $1000 on a tooth, but this is nothing out of God’s control. I know that I can trust Him, and so can you!
