Well everyone, to our surprise, God surely surpassed our expectations by allowing us to live on a tropical island this month. This month was all about letting Go and letting God lead us to different people that can help expand his kingdom! While this was our main focus, he also allowed us to find rest, joy, and unity among my team while living among his beautiful creations that surrounded us daily.
Here are some FUN FACTS On our Island Adventure
1. Scooters are the best vehicles to ride everywhere! A lot of our daily transportation included us renting scooters and driving all around the island. We drove along the beautiful coasts along with the crazy bumpy dirt roads. A good tip to remember is, if you happen to see a puddle, you might want to drive around it or your entire bike may become submerged like mine did! Yep, my bike and legs were covered!
2. Although scooters may be loads of fun, you should always be alert or you might get hit! I stepped into an ally way right behind my friend and BOOM! My glasses flew up, and I was completely disoriented while I had to hurry and sit down, due to the massive wound on my leg! Thankfully, it wasn’t broken and I’m still healing up well!
3. Visit all the Waterfalls you see! However, you may want to check for snakes when you get in, or they may creep behind you and try to get in your photo. My team and I had a blast jumping in the waterfalls and letting it just pour over us. Lots of laughter, joy, and freedom!
4. Not only is it cool to live on an island, but you should check out all the other ones around you too! I had a chance to visit 3 other beautiful islands while we were here!
5. Do you love fruit? Well, it’s everywhere!!! Yep, you want a coconut, a passion fruit, mangoes, or maybe some papaya? Well, it’s at your disposal at any time and you can even get a smoothie made with all the authentic fruit you want! The moment we sat down at the beach and had fruit delivered to us, as we rested, and then sliced and peeled right in front of us, I knew it couldn’t get any better!
6. The special part about an island, are all the beautiful beaches! A teammate and I had the chance of discovering a secluded, beautiful turquoise beach filled with crystal white sand! We had fun swimming and doing cartwheels across the beach!
7. If you see a jet ski, ride it! I am so excited to say that I got to drive my first one on the Gulf of Thailand! I added a check on my bucket list the moment I was able to drive one and the best part about them is when you get to be thrown off or your jet ski goes flying over the giant waves behind the other boats passing along!
8. Boat rides across the ocean are beautiful! Think about it, it’s just you, the ocean, the beautiful sky, and the freedom to relax and listen to the waves.
9. Snorkeling is like discovering a new world! We went snorkeling on two different islands, but before you go you might want to see how close you will be swimming over the reefs. It was a little scary knowing that it was like an inch below you.
10. Deep Sea fishing isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be, at least not for me, I didn’t catch a thing! I started with the excitement of catching a swordfish or a shark, but instead after patiently waiting for a very long time, I caught a fish as big as my hand. I guess my hopes were a little too high.
11. Visit a pearl farm! It was so amazing to see pearls of different colors, come right out of the clam! Black pearls, pink pearls, white pearls, or orange pearls. All the colors are there! I left with earrings and a bracelet!
12. You like the Sun? Well, don’t stay out in the sun too much, or you may become as dark as me. I don’t even recognize myself anymore!
13. Need a massage? Well they are everywhere and very cheap!
14. Spring Rolls are the best! Fresh vegetables, noodles, and shrimp or pork wrapped in a thin rice paper wrap ready to be dipped in peanut sauce. Can I just say umm hmm good! And they are cheap! It’s like a taste of delighted freshness!
15. What’s an island without beautiful Sunsets over the beach! Don’t forget to stay up with the people you love and enjoy the beauty of watching the sky change from purple to orange and then to yellow as the colors pierce the sky. They are breathtaking!
