Life has been a kind of crazy busy these last few weeks!
In the first week of May, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Public Health and officially moved out of the town I called home for the last three years. And, by the second week; I started an internship at Roosevelt Park Ministries, and a full time Patient Access Services job at Spectrum Health.
Since I’ve started these positions, I have been working at little over 40 hours a week, and have only had two days off; but, I am LOVING the interactions I get to have every day with co-workers, patients and everyone else in the community I have run into.
At Roosevelt Park Ministries, I am part of a team that is planning a summer camp for the children in the Roosevelt neighborhood, teaching them about health and wellness, and career preparation. One of my preceptors brings me organic vegetables, a cup of tea, and a piece of his special dark chocolate: these have become my favorite moments on Mondays!
On one of the two days I have had off since I graduated, I watched my sweet, sweet niece, Parker Joy, as she was dedicated and my sister, and brother-in-law pledged to raise her in the light of Jesus. I am so excited to watch her grow up knowing God. Being an Auntie is the best!!
In the midst of all of these changes, I decided to make another big change. After a lot of hard conversations, and tearful prayers, God and I decided that August was not my time to leave on this adventure. I felt like I crammed so much into the last year, trying to graduate, and get a job, I just hadn’t committed enough time to fundraising, or preparing myself to be a missionary. Thankfully, with the help of the amazing Adventures in Missions staff, I found my place in a new route leaving in January 2018.
This route is called the Fusion Route. This route really focuses on community, and bringing many different cultures together. “The journey is designed so racers can become actively-listening, dirty-footed disciples of Christ while functioning as a unit seeking His Kingdom.”
I am SO excited to continue to prepare for this 11 month journey, and develop a closer relationship with God along the way.
These are my new countries:
Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Spain, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Serbia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines
As always, I greatly appreciate any prayers you can throw my way to help encourage my spiritual growth!
