Brunch: (verb) ‘bruhntch To sit in a booth, sip coffee, people watch, and eat a breakfast or lunch meal. One can appropriately brunch between the hours of 10am-3pm. “Should we brunch today?”

Brunch is the best. Really though, think about it. You get to order whatever you want. It’s 10:30 am and you want a burger? Great! Get your burger, because it’s brunch. It’s 12:30 and you want pancakes? Hey, text your friend and invite her to brunch and boom, pancakes it is.

Today-we brunched. I sat in the best company consisting of my roommate and an awesome egg white omelet. The service was great and the people-watching opportunities were countless. Today’s brunching was far better than usual.

Today there was no rush. I got to sit with my roommate and talk. We live together, so of course we talk quite frequently. Often we spend a few minutes here and there updating each other on the new Animal Planet show we’re obsessing over (no really if you haven’t found an unexpected love for Animal Planet go watch it right now), or loop each other in on our loves lives (okay fine, her love life).

This morning for a few hours she and I brunched and talked about God. We talked about our current struggles and how present Jesus is in our lives. Then we came home, looked through scripture, and shared favorite verses. We sat and prayed together.

For me that’s kind of new. I’ll be honest, I’m newer on my faith journey. God has always been a part of my life, but it’s only been in these past months that I’ve yearned for Him to be in every part of my life.

It was so cool-but that doesn’t even capture it. I just love that God is so present in my life. I love that I’m on a journey where I want to talk about Jesus with my friends, where I want to talk about Him with everyone.

I know I won’t be brunching on the World Race, but I can’t wait for eleven months where there’s no rush. Eleven months where I’ll do exactly what I did this morning, but I’ll do it all day. It won’t be confined to a booth or have to be between the hours of 10-3. Until then, I look forward to the mornings like these where God is preparing me for those eleven months. But who wouldn’t? Because brunch is the best.
