Ever wondered how world racers travel?
Traveling has been a huge part of this month. I have come to love these days and the new friends we make along the way.
This particular travel day was especially fun (don’t let the pictures fool you, these beautiful women handled it with smiles)
The plan: catch a bus from Teluk Intan to Cameron Highlands. A 2.5 hr. trip….in a car. We arrived after 4 buses, 1 fresh apple juice (in a plastic bag of course), 2 orders of roti, a few new friends, a short van ride, and almost 8 hours. Google maps should have a tab labeled ‘world race style’.
Step 1: Wait for the city bus to take us to the bus terminal. Estimated wait time: Unknown.
Actual wait time: 45 minutes.
Step 2: Wait. There is no bus from Teluk Intan to Cameron Highlands. We must wait an hour and a half to catch the bus back to Ipoh.
Step 3: Wait, eat some food, get freshly squeezed juice, and keep waiting.
Step 4: No time for photos. Last bus for Cameron Highlands leaves in 10 minutes…from a different bus terminal. No time to get there. We are rushed onto another bus, told to get off and walk to ‘bomba’, where we will wait for our bus to pick us up.
Step 5: What is ‘bomba?’
Step 6: Find ‘bomba’… I guess it is a fire station.
Step 7: Wait on the side of the road.
Sometimes I am amazed we get anywhere. A bus came, we waved, it stopped, it took us to Cameron Highlands. Thank you, Jesus for yet another adventure!
