My name is Emma and I am 24 years old. I grew up in Forest Grove, Oregon with my wonderful parents and 3 amazing sisters. I recently graduated from the University of North Dakota where I received a degree in communication sciences and disorders (speech pathology). Most people ask how I ended up in North Dakota for school, and the answer is softball. I began playing softball in 4th grade and my love for the game quickly grew. The summer after graduation (a month before school started) I signed to play for the Fighting Sioux at UND. I never imagined I would leave the Northwest for school, let alone move half way across the country. Looking back I can see God’s hands all over that decision. God provided a wonderful college ministry and an uplifting church to be a part of. I met people who were running after the Lord and truly pursuing a relationship with Him. Although I grew up in a wonderful Christian home and always thought I was living for Jesus, I truly began pursuing Him during my college years. After years of living to play softball, I learned how to use the gift the Lord gave me to further His kingdom! Many of my greatest memories and friendships are from the years I spent on the ball field. I was blessed to play with, and be coached by incredible people who are truly like family. Each person had an impact on my life. I am thankful for every memory and relationship made during those years. Softball has a special place in my heart, but it no longer defines who I am.

So, who am I? Well my name is Emma, and I LOVE Jesus! I am currently living in my home town with my parents and youngest sister. Oh, and our two dogs and two cats. I have a heart for adventure and for kids! I love being outdoors and exploring new places. Some of my hobbies include coaching, baking, hiking, camping, and just being active. I love spending time with people, and am usually up for trying new things. Here are some random facts about me:

  • The Oregon coast is one of my favorite places to visit (but I love anywhere I can just sit and take in God’s creation)
  • Green is my favorite color
  • I love to take roadtrips, and sing in the car!
  • When I was 10 I saved up my money to buy a pug puppy. Her name is Penny and she is 13.
  • We also have an 18 year old cat…
  • I still have a ‘dumb phone’, and I love it!
  • I don’t like elevators
  • I took 2 years of sign language
  • Sushi is one of my favorite meals
  • My favorite movie is Ever After
  • I love giant dogs and wrinkly dogs.

So that is a little bit about me. I can’t wait to see how God uses the World Race to impact not only the lives of people we minister to; but the lives of my teammates and I, our families, friends, and supporters. What a great opportunity to shine for Jesus, and grow in Him in ways I cannot even imagine!
