This is my official first post on my World Race blog! Eeeek! How exciting!
I have been reading other people’s blogs for months now and I have been trying to absorb as much information as possible. But finally it’s time for me to start my own.
I decided it would be good for me to just update everyone on what life has been like since accepting a position the World Race.
My Immediate Reaction:
Crying hysterically over the phone as they told me I had been accepted.
5 Minutes After Reaction:
Called my mom and dad crying and telling her the exciting news.
15 Minutes After Reaction:
Paid my deposit to officially accept my position.
4 Hours After Reaction:
Called my sister, my best friend and honestly just tried to digest what I had just agreed to. AHHH!
Next Day Reaction:
Put my super early notice of resignation into work.
FAST FORWARD A FEW MONTHS…..
Today:
I am still shocked that I’m actually going but slowly it’s getting more and more real. I have a Total of $7,973.78. I have gone shopping at REI and have gotten all my equipment including my Backpack, daypack, tent, sleeping bag, and most importantly my plushy sleeping pad! I have had two successful fundraising events and have one left to go. I have sent out most of my fundraising letters, I have got most of my travel shots and honestly just trying to prepare myself mentally to go.
When I first accepted this position I was having so much anxiety about how I was going to manage fundraising, but I am so thankful how God has truly blessed me in so many ways. He continues to surprise me on a regular basis! With that being said Thank you to all my friends and family that have helped me these past few months. Your support and love have meant the world to me!
That’s it for now – be on the look out for posts about my fundraising events and my many adventures to come!
