This month for ministry all of the men on the
squad are doing “man-istry” together and the women are split up into 4 groups
of women. I am with the 5 girls on my
team (12:18) and the girls on another team.
There are 8 of us that are serving together this month in Bangkok at a Leper
Colony. We are serving with an
organization called Beulah Land Services (BLS).
This organization started in 1982 with the purpose of being true friends
of leprosy patients and their family.

One of the things that we are doing in the Leper Colony is
working at the nursery school. At the
nursery school we sing and dance with the children, help prepare their lunch,
teach them new songs, and help out in anyway possible. Then on Saturdays we teach them a bible
story, sing songs, play games, and color.
Last week the story was on David and Goliath. The children that come to this school are the
children and grandchildren of the people who suffer from Leprosy. Most of these children come from very poor
families and are not well accepted in public school because of where they come
from.
Another thing that we are doing in the Leper Colony is going
to some of the homes in the colony to visit with people and help them out by
doing their laundry and cleaning their houses.
We have also went to the hospital to pray for and talk to some of the
people. They are always very excited to
have visitor come and listen to them.
Leprosy, also known as Hansen’s Disease, is a chronic infectious
disease caused by bacteria. It can now
be cured with effective medications.
However, the impact of the disease caused the permanent damage to the
nerves, face, eyes, hand and feet.
Symptoms include numbness or absent sensation in face, hands, feet, and
muscle weakness. According to the
patients, they are in no pain. For more
information on Leprosy check out the WHO (World Health Organization) website at
http://www.who.int/lep/en/.

A typical day of ministry this month: Wake up early and be on the first bus at
7:30am. After a few bus changes arrive
at the nursery school at 9:00am. Either
cook, do laundry, or help with the children.
Eat lunch around 12:30pm. Go to
hospital or houses for visits. Come back
to school around 3:00pm and clean the school.
Then head home around 4ish.
Usually get back to place we are staying around 5:30 or 6:00pm depending
on traffic.
Thanks for all of your support and prayers! God Bless!
