I’m Emily Werness and I cannot believe month ten of my world race is coming to a close. Per usual, I have a video recap of the month followed by some thoughts and prayer requests straight  from the racer’s mouth (my mouth :)). It ended up being a bit longer than normal, but if you want to know where my head and heart are at entering this last month of the race and where they’ve been, it’s there for you.

God is just so good and every day I feel his overwhelming love for me. I feel so secure in my identity as his daughter, living by his grace daily, and what it truly means to walk in freedom. The Lord has used this race to rip me open and to bring light to the darkest parts of myself that I had hidden away. His purpose in turning me inside out and upside down and wrestling through all these things (worth, sin, past sin, attitude, selfishness, identity, forgiveness, GRACE, and so much more) is to bring healing and to refine me and continue to sanctify me so I look more like him. It’s painful,  but the outcome is beautiful.

His joy is my strength. It’s no longer just a nice cliche phrase Christians say to each other – it has been cultivated in my life in such a real way and all I want to do is spread it!

I am sure some of you want to know what my plans are when I come home after the race. I am coming back to Minnesota and that’s about all I know for now. There are a few things I am praying about with my Father, but nothing is certain just yet. He holds my future in his hands, of that I am sure. So my eyes are fixed on the last few days here in Esteli, Nicaragua, and on the next 4 weeks in Costa Rica.

I’m Emily Werness and every day I see more and more of the goodness of my Father.

Here’s where my heart is at right now:

You make my footsteps and my path secure
So walking on water is just the beginning
Cause my faith to arise, stand at attention
For You are calling me to greater things

You will lift my head above the mighty waves
You are able to keep me from stumbling
And in my weakness
you are the strength that comes from within
Good shepherd of my soul
Take my hand and lead me on
