Our ministry this month:

We were helping our contact grow his church. We would spend the mornings passing out bibles and handouts on the gospel and invite people to church, then in the afternoons we helped with different gardens and just visiting with people around the area sharing testimonies.

I realized that my ministry this month personally was to grow closer with my team and with the family that God had placed me with. I grew very close to them (6 kids) and was able to pour love out just as if I were in their family too. They made us feel so welcome and taken care of :]

I really appreciated their mother. She is this beautiful woman who loves to talk and is practicing her English skills, she literally takes care of everything. She cooks and cleans for her family daily and then add 6 racers in the mix that’s 12 people to take care of and she never even thought of it as work.

She also oversees the backyard, which consists of the garden, 2 cows, a pig, ducks and a turkey!

For her never expecting anything in return for her labor and time was such a humbling experience for me. Serving selflessly can be very difficult because we are raised as American’s to always get something in return for whatever we do.

Another girl that caught my attention this month was another EMMA! This fifteen year old has more heart and spirit than anyone I have ever met in my life. She was such a blessing to me, always encouraging me and taking care of me when I was sick or needed something translated. She went through a rough moment this month where her father would not allow her to go do something she really desired and literally she submitted to her father’s will because she knew that God would bring her happiness in the situation. While I was crying for her (which is probably because I cry a lot) she shared verses with me that made me feel stupid for ever arguing with my parents about anything.

So one thing I can take away from month 2 is that not only do you put on love in everything you do, you must also serve selflessly and remember that God will bring you through anything, even the times when you can stand up for yourself, it can be more rewarding in the end to lean on Him and stay quiet.
