This sweet little girl is one of the children we met in the slums where we worked in Chiang Mai. One of Lighthouse in Action’s ministries is to work in the slums in an attempt to prevent the children there from having to sell flowers in the bars at night and risk getting trafficked by their parents who are desperate to make money.
When we first met her, we could tell that something wasn’t right. The entire left side of her body is limp, and she has trouble walking and running. She was craving physical touch, but often chose to show love by hitting or punching us or the other children. She also has an unnatural fixation with parts of people’s bodies that children should not be fascinated by, which caused us to worry that she might be being abused. One day we saw bruises all over her arms, legs, and back, and we decided that something had to be done.

We told our contact, Emmi, at Lighthouse in Action, and she has promised to contact the people at Compassion in Action who have an active ministry in which they scholarship some of the slum children to school, to see if anything can be done. We are still unsure how this sweet little girl’s home situation is or who is inflicting the bruises and other scars of abuse that we saw, but please pray that Compassion can help her and that another life can be saved from the sex trafficking industry. Prevention is by far the best method of rescuing people from this industry, so it is our prayer that her abuse can end, and that she can be given the chance to get an education and live a life where she knows her own worth in God’s eyes. We know that even though we didn’t get to stay and be the ones to do it, she will be loved. Please join us in praying for her!
