New York City Life

I’ve been living in NYC now for about a month. I have been hesitant to blog about this because I wasn’t quite sure how to communicate what it’s like for me to be here. I have been living with my roommate from college and I have to say that it has been a blessing to spend time with her before I embark on the World Race (shout out to Agnes!!).

City life can seem glamorous but waiting for trains, walking through crowed streets and spending money wisely because everything is more expensive here are all daily realities. Some days I have to fight to keep a smile on my face when I know the passersby will not even make eye contact.

Job hunting for the summer has been quite discouraging. I was hoping to simply find something, anything, that would support me. But I am continually learning that my plans must be continually surrendered to the will of God. Although I have not been able to save up as much as I had hoped by working this summer, I am confident that God will be faithful to provide for my every need. Even when his help comes how and when I least expect it, he will always be there.

I simply come before the Lord and find comfort and hope in his presence. I have been learning that the calling of God in not always an easy path. However in the midst of struggle God is giving me a choice to trust him.

If you feel discouraged today, seek the presence of God. He is willing to comfort you and strengthen you for that which he has called you to do. God wants to give us courage daily.

Thank you to all my friends and family who have been supporting me, we are almost to the 40% mark and I know your prays for me are heard by God. I am excited to see how God will continue to provide and give me a testimony that will bring him honor. I only have 5 weeks until I go to training camp and meet my teammates, this is starting to get real!
