It's not about me-
if it were we would drown,

be dead in our sin,
be lost never found.

It's not about us
or what we can gain,

as selfish beings
we bring our own pain.

We look for our love
in the dark where it's hidden,

we strive to make life
a story chance could have written.

If life were a game
where mere humans could win,

it would not be a challenge
simply a feast for within.

Sacrificing,
to satisfy our every desire,

but what happens when
we can't get any higher?

We hit a plateau
no where left we can go-

This is it? This is all?
It's the bars final call

Walking home, empty faces
shivering cold,

girls clinging to boys
and the lies they were told.

And tonight, I'm in a place
I thought was history,

Why do I retreat to the enemy?

Are you a Christian?
Yes I am.

I take a shot and hold the enemy's hand.

My life belongs to Jesus
I don't drink much, just tonight,

I am the hypocrite that you were talking about,
You know the one that claims Christ, but takes the wrong route?

Every once in a while, my chains of sin are recoiled,
I had plans to break them, but every time they are foiled-

Shamed, guilty and dirty,
words I thought I had passed-

God's good grace has covered me
those are lies that won't last.

God has revealed to me, that I am dead to my sin
with Him by my side, I am a new creation.

Fully human and sinful, in need of His grace,
cut loose of my chains, ready to see Him face to face.

As a sinner, I am humbled by my need for a Savior-
all perfection and glory lie with our awesome creator.

— just some late night thoughts about God's awesome grace and the journey of humbling my undeserving self in order to accept His overwhelming and abundant love —
