At our mini-debrief in Bulgaria, our squad underwent some routine leadership changes. Three new squad leaders were chose to take over for Kat and Jeremy who will be returning to the States at the end of May. These leadership changes resulted in squad-wide team changes and every single team on O-Squad experienced some kind of mix up.
My previous team (R.O.A.R.) honestly didn't anticipate any change, so it was a little surprising when one of our members, Emma Misco, was moved to another team. The remaining six members of R.O.A.R. are still on a team together, but because we don't have Emma, we consider ourselves a different team. Consequently, Team R.O.A.R. exists no longer and we have therefore given ourselves a new name:
Awakened Ezekiels
As we met to pray about our new team, each of us considered different prophetic words the Lord had given us: renaissance, passion, rebirth, awakening, ect. We decided that as a new team, we would enter a new season of the Race with awakened energy and excitement for the Gospel. We flipped through scripture to find inspiration and direction for this new season, and we landed among the pages of the book of Ezekiel.
Ezekiel is an Old Testament priest who began his prophetic career by consuming a scroll given to him by the Lord. The scroll contained God’s message for his people living in exile and Ezekiel was told to eat the scroll so that God’s message could become a part of him. He literally digested the word of God.
In chapter 37, Ezekiel comes to a valley where dry bones have been scattered across the landscape. The Lord tells him to speak to the bones, breathe into them, and command that they come back to life. In what must have been a terrifyingly awesome display of the Lord’s power, Ezekiel spoke to the bones and they in fact began to grow muscle and flesh until they formed a massive army.
As a team, we want to claim the anointing and authority of Ezekiel as prophets. We vow to consume the word of God so we can deliver His message to those across the world still living in exile. We will speak to dry bones and they will come back to life. And as we join the Lord in awakening the Sleepers, we ourselves will be awakened.
