Nairobi, Kenya…its surreal to finally be on the African
continent, yet at the same time the most normal thing. I walked down the
streets of Nairobi with 2 others feeling safe…feeling at home around people
without “white skin. Thoughts flood my mind but they are too scattered to blog
them all fully.
But here’s a little glimpse inside our travel here.
Friday
2:55am~ wake up for worship
5:38am~ Pack up tent in the
cold, rainy windness.
7am~ Load bus for Dublin
airport
8:30am~ Check into TurkAir
10:20am~ Get to gate &
find food with our last euros.
11:20am~ Flight takes off
over Europe
5pm~ Touch down in Istanbul
& immediately take off again.
5:06pm~ Praying &
commanding the plane to land in Istanbul safely.
5:08pm~ Pilot announces that
we are circling for landing again because of wind directions.
5:13pm~ Grab Nathan Salley
through the bumpy landing & praying out loud as the plane feels like it was
about to turn over.
5:14pm~ Heart still beating
fast…clapping for the safely landing.
5:30pm~ led by airport man
to our next gate.
5:34pm~ Go though security
again.
5:45pm~ TAKE OFF FOR AFRICA!
Saturday
1:18am~ Land in Nairobi!
Officially living out the desires of my heart.
1:46am~ Get visa &
passport stamped.
2:32am~ Load buses for
hostel.
3:03am~ Sing “Walking in
Memphis song on the bus to hostel…thoroughly missing Rachael.
3:22am~ Take over
Hostel.
3:55am~ Crawl in my
sleeping bag on top of the bunk bed.
