Potential is what you can do but have not yet accomplished. What potential lies dormant inside of you? At church yesterday we were faced with this question. What things do you wish to accomplish in life, but fear, anxiety, lack of resources, or other road blocks stand in the way? The pastor challenged us to see dormant potential as a lack of belief instead of a lack of resource. Believing correctly is the key to walking in victory and walking in your potential. Your potential is not defined by past successes or what others around you think you can accomplish. It is defined by what you believe about yourself and your ability to strive towards your end goal, no matter what stands in your way. Do not let people who have done nothing tell you what cannot be done.

This got me thinking…what potential do I have inside me? I have the desire and potential to be a great missionary. I desire to live overseas, but have always believed a lack of resources would stand in my way. The world race is living proof of my potential. I find myself in Thailand, 2 months into an 11 month journey, and I am doing what I was made to do! I didn’t allow a good job, comforts of home, family, or a lack of money stand in my way. I decided that the world race was the next step or next chapter of my life and I went for it. Every day is a new experience with God. I feel at home surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city. I am no longer distracted by the people around me, because they don’t even speak English. I am able to focus on the task laid before me or what God is trying to say to me. I love it!

I am on a journey this year that will continuously reveal to me dormant potential. I am blessed to have time set aside every day to seek God and what He has for me. I encourage each one of you to consider this question. Don’t let your past successes or failures define your future. Don’t let the thought of being too old stop you from finding a new talent. Embrace every day and continue to grow and change. God is too big to stay in one place. Will you follow Him?
