How did the week round out? The final details below…
Day 6: Team formation day! The food for the day was African style. Women served the men as they sat at the table then we sat in the back on the floor to eat. Women are not allowed to associate with men during meal times. It was good to have some time as girls and we didn't care at all about eating on the floor. Training camp showed me that I will eat, sit, or sleep anywhere. After breakfast we did one final team activity. The same people (minus one girl) from yesterday's activity was working together again today. We worked well as a team as Will took lead again. The staff watched us and had some positive feedback for us about how we worked. The task was to rank the importance of items after a plane crash. Everyone on the team was very excited as we hoped this was our final team for the year. That afternoon we were given time to hang out as a team. Do whatever and be back by 7pm….
My team is awesome. We decided to get a bucket and laundry detergent and wash our laundry in the creek, an everyday occurrence on the race. We piled into the guys cars, laughed our heads off at the dollar store, shared family stories over Icecream and dinner, then finished the night off by doing laundry. I am incredible blessed to be on Team Throne Unveiled. (More about them later). Our sleeping arrangements were community tents. We had 10 girls in a tent and it wasn't too bad.
Day 7: Exercise this morning was to pack up all the community tents and then a little line dancing led by Adam. We spent the morning getting logistics and it was a long day of boring details. I skipped a session to sleep in the hallway but ended up just listening to some worship music. The night ended with much anticipated squad wars. Anticlimactic cuz our squad pretty much sucked at it but its all good. The best game of the night was when the guys passed circle gummies on toothpicks. They went all out and it was hilarious to watch. The night ended with some hang out time as everyone said their goodbyes.
The next morning we hopped into our cars and headed the airport. I was lucky enough to head to the beach with Kyle and Trent. I was able to take some time to relax, debrief, and get ready to go home.
Training camp was an amazing week and I am so blessed to have the 50 men and women of U squad with me as I travel overseas.
