For those of you who didn't receive my support letter in the mail….

Thanks for taking the time to read about my amazing trip. I'm excited to see what God has in store for me next year (or 6 months from now).

Dear Friends and Family,

Happy New Year! Many of your know God has given me a heart for missions. I wanted to share my newest adventure with you and invite you to be a part of it with me!
In spring 2011, I went to China. While there, I fell in love with the character of my surroundings. I loved how friendly and joyful the people were despite the difficult conditions. I loved experiencing a completely different culture, language, and landscape. I was in awe of the mountains, rolling hills, and breath-taking scenery. East Asia stole my heart and I’ve wanted to go back ever since. Upon returning from my outreach in China, I looked into other ways to travel overseas to do mission work.
This past summer, I was able to spend three weeks in Paris working with a homeless shelter. While there, I was able to meet and work with people from many different countries. I love how God can bring people from many nations to serve together in His name. My latest adventure is discovering a program through Adventure in Missions called the World Race.
The World Race is an 11 month mission trip where participants will travel around the world to help “the least of these.” A squad of fifty 21-35 year olds, travel to 11 countries over the course of the year in order to serve in whatever ways are needed. Upon arrival to each country, the squad breaks into smaller teams. Each team is partnered with a local contact and housed for the month.
My World Race squad leaves in September 2013. We will be traveling to the Philippians, China, Thailand, India, Nepal, Cambodia, Ukraine, Romania, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda. We will partner with orphanages, refugee camps, local churches, and other organizations to serve in a variety of ways. I was first drawn to the diversity of this program. I love that I will be able to experience many different cultures and serve in a multitude of ways. I will be able to determine which types of programs tug at my heart the most and which areas of the world are most appealing for future mission trips.
Through the World Race, I hope to learn who God intends for me to become. Through serving others, I will learn about myself and continue to be shaped by God. I realize that my small efforts will not change the world, but they may change one life. We are called to share the love of Christ and that’s what I intend to do. I look forward to being surrounded by God’s creation and realizing that the world is much bigger and more glorious that I could even imagine. I look forward to being a small piece in a much larger puzzle. I want to discover how being a Christian is lived out in different cultures. I want to see how being a Christian differs (or is similar) depending on circumstances.
I am so grateful for this opportunity that God has given me, and have every confidence that He will provide for my needs! Ultimately, my prayer is that He will do that through you. I am writing to you to ask if you would consider partnering prayerfully and financially with me in my ministry. I must raise $15,000 in order to go on the World Race, which covers all of my expenses in the field. I will be spending an additional $2,500 of my own money on preparation costs such as gear, vaccinations, and flights to our launch city. Financial support can be given as a one-time gift or as monthly donation, wherein you choose the amount and beginning and end date. If 25 people pledge $50 a month for 12 months, I would have 100 percent of the funds needed for my trip.  Please consider being a part of my support team.
