What is it?
The World Race is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve “the least of these” while living in community with like-minded people. While in each country, we will partner with a different organization, church, or orphanage, and serve them in whatever capacity is needed. It will pull me out of my comfort zone and challenge me in a variety of ways.

Who is going?
My squad includes about 50 people from all over America and some Canadians. We will join together and travel from country to country. Once in a country we will break into teams of 7 and disperse to different areas in the country. Each team will partner with a church or organization to serve for the month. The team of 7 will be the same each month unless changes need to be made. When the month is over we will join as a squad again to travel to the next country. Each of us will have different stories from the country depending on what we were assigned to that month.

Where will we go?
We will be going to (in no specific order)

China
Thailand
Cambodia
Philippians
Kenya
Uganda
Rwanda
India
Nepal
Ukraine
Romania

I am stoked about returning to China and will feel “at home” for the month. I have always wanted to go to Africa! My ancestors are from India so it will be interesting to travel back to my roots. I am excited to ride an elephant in Thailand. And all the other countries I’m sure I will be surprised by because I don’t know much about them.

What will we do?
Every team will have a different experience and every country will bring different challenges. We may teach English, run kids camps, work with refugees, aid relief work, work with prostitutes, work hard labor, or anything else that is needed. I love the idea that every country will look different and I will be able to experience different types of ministry. This is the aspect of the Race that I was most drawn too. We will be housed by host families, sleep on the floor of the church, or tent for the month in a field. We may work in big cities, small towns, or remote villages. It really depends on where your team is sent.

What will I bring?
All I will have is a 65 liter backpack, in which I will pack a tent, sleeping bag, clothes, and some belongings. I will not be able to be sent anything from back home and will live out of my backpack for the year. Sounds like an amazing adventure to me J

What can you do?
You can subscribe to my blog and get updates from me throughout the year. This is a great way to stay connected to where I am and what I am doing. You can pray for my squad. That team dynamics will be good, pray for heath, safety, and opportunities to share God’s love with those we meet. Lastly, you can give money to support my trip. I need to raise about $16,500 to cover living expenses, vaccinations, and gear. Please be a part of serving the “least of these” around the world.
