We’ve spent a month pouring into the same 27 smiling faces, helping with homework, chores, tears and laughter. We’ve scolded, hugged and lived lives with these kids. But now the month is over. Our last days at Asha Missions were bittersweet. We spent our last night with the kids and got to say a long good bye to them, and hear their good byes to us. “Don’t forget us. We love you, we miss you. God bless you,” was what each of them said. We had a huge group hug at the end, but I can never hug those kiddos long enough.
Our last day, we walked them to the bus stop, and waved as it drove away. I think it was harder for us than it was for them. But I’ve learned so much during this past month, including that being in God’s will is best. He has a plan for those kids – I can trust they are under his wing as I go. My prayers all month were for Him and His love to stay as we left. I know that is happening.
After we left, we went to the airport to pick up two other teams and then headed to the train station for a 14 hour train ride to Verenassi. We’re at a GEMS ministry site, and they are busy here. A couple schools, a polio home, a hospital are at the campus, as well as other things that I probably don’t know about – just this morning I saw a nursing school sign on a building.
One of the main things we’re doing is changing teams for next month. My new team is. . .
Me
Cody O’Donnell
Becca Dietrich
Rachel Balson
Erin Olsun
and
Steve Ticknor
See some repeats? Most of the teams are completely new, but Me, Becca, Rachel and Cody are still together. I’m so excited to still have them with me, and I’m also so excited to get to know Erin and Steve. We’re here until Saturday, then we leave for NEPAL!! So excited.
