This is the tale of a little hobbit, who as far as hobbits are concerned is exceptionally ordinary in every way; well American hobbits anyway. You see American hobbits enjoy undeniably comfortable lives; they have their comfortable job with their comfortable pay check that enables them to have a comfortable home and vehicle. They live in a comfortable neighborhood and invite all of their comfortable friends over for backyard barbeque in the summer. Other than the fact that a vast majority of these hobbits are selfish (actually they all are to some degree), they seem a pretty jolly bunch that fit the descriptions of author J.R.R. Tolkien to the letter. But this is not a tale about the American hobbits, it is about one little hobbit who heard the call of someone infinitely more powerful than the silly wizard Gandalf, and dared to go on an adventure.

Who is this hobbit you may ask; well lets see, first and foremost its important to know that while all hobbits are similar, there are some who have chosen to answer to a higher power than themselves. God is by nature completely against hobbit nature. While hobbits live in their faulty feeling of security and resolutely close their eyes to the truth of God's word, the chance for salvation flies past them. Hobbits are afraid of the unknown and completely reliant on their own wisdom; because of that, they are lost. But not all; some acknowledge their own shortcomings and rely on the love and wisdom provided by their Father in heaven. What a beautiful gift and what a powerful calling. This hobbit is just one of many who are blessed to be called children of God.

I believe it is now time to abandon the analogy of the hobbits who I sincerely believe are excellent examples of the tendencies of human nature; now I will speak plainly. For every person there is a purpose that God sets up in their lives. For some it is to remain where they are and minister to the people around them, and for others it is to go and share his love in places far away from home. I am among the people called to go (trust me it was not my idea), I have no idea why he picked me but I do know that without God my life would be empty. Who am I? I am nobody, just one person among billions. Who is God? The author, the protector, he is love and peace, hope and salvation. the beginning and end, beauty, justice, and mercy. In short God is everything, and without him there would be nothing.

Who am I to refuse the call of the King?

Why the World Race? Because God is love; he had given me love, and I have no other purpose than to share that love with the world. It is going to be rough, I am going to be knocked down, kicked, and spit on; but God will always be there to pick me back up. I will need support through prayer and finances, and I am trusting that the Lord will provide.

Who am I?

I am a hobbit, and I am going on an adventure…
