These lyrics from a Christina Perri song are printed in black across the fresh, white cotton of my new shirt. The words are bold and honest and are not so much screaming to draw attention to the one wearing it as they are shouting an invitation to everyone else- an invitation to come as you are; to be raw and messy and real; to talk about all the things that we try so very hard to hide. The words are tender and welcoming as they whisper, “Me too… I have felt what you feel. Take my hand and we’ll do this together. You are not alone.” The words are courageous and pure and they tell a story of hope and new beginnings. The words are my truth.
I pray they compel you to hold on to hope; I hope they convince you to stay.
