As I sat on the bathroom floor of my little hotel room in Lima, Peru listening to the constant beeping of traffic, I silently cried out to Jesus. It was the middle of the night when I gave up tossing and turning. My mind wouldn't stop reeling and my body was burning up between the sheets, so I took my journal and a pen and quietly snuck into the bathroom, so I wouldn't disturb Ellie and Lindsey.
I wrote a prayer that January night begging God to show up and prove himself and to make 2012 a better year than the last.
So, because today is the last day of 2012, I thought I would share with everyone how amazing my God is. Today, instead of focusing on what He hasn't done yet or what I need to improve in 2013, I will reflect on what he has done this past year. Sitting in Lima this time last year, writing out my prayer, I never could have imagined what this year had in store for me.
God answered my prayer within days. During that trip I somehow became extremely sick. Maybe I swallowed some of the water or got the flu, but maybe it was God preparing to show me His great love for me. I puked for two days straight until there was absolutely nothing left inside me. Stuck in another country without my momma while I felt more sick than I have ever been in my life was awful. God absolutely used it though.
At church one night, Scott asked everyone to pray for me. When I sat down on that stool and looked around me at the people, so willing to help, I knew God would answer their prayers. Both the peruvians and gringos prayed and honestly, within 15 minutes, I felt completely better. I had never before experienced prayer that heals, especially that quickly! It was amazing! I couldn’t help but want to worship and glorify Him for answering my silent prayers and giving me a miracle.
The rest of my year was just as beautiful. It went something like this:
