I’m the girl going on a mission.
Adam is the ten–year-old who had a desire to help raise money for my trip.
You see, I work with Adam’s mom, and she went home and explained to her family what I am going to do starting in January. Without missing a beat Adam decided along with collecting canned food items for a local cause he was going to collect donations for me at his Haunted Yard.
After a month of anticipation I left work early Saturday night to make an appearance. When I arrived the setting was perfect…
It was dark; monster sounds and thematic music from scary movies played in the background…
Our tour guide, Adam’s dad, took my group through the yard. We passed:
a biohazard area…

huge spider webs and skeletons…
a wolf that came rushing out the woods when people walked by…
a cemetery with fog, a chop shop, a witch with a bubbling caldron…
and ended at the butcher’s shop.
Confession time: I thought how scary could this for kids by kids haunted yard be? Well, when the little guy with the chain saw came out of the darkness and chased me I totally screamed.
Well done Adam and friends, well done.

(Adam and me)
And here’s the best part; not only was it a fun night but also Adam raised $25.00 for me!
When talking with adults the lump sum of what I owe overwhelms them and they question how I will ever be able to raise $15,500.
I’ll tell you how I will raise that money…
through people like Adam.
He heard my need and instead of seeing a large number he saw an opportunity. He came up with a creative way to entertain and do community service.
He believed even the smallest amount makes a difference and you know what? It does. Instead of owing $10,000 I now officially owe $9,975.
So thank you Adam. Thank you for doing a fantastic job with the Haunted Yard and thank you for investing my trip! 10-year-olds around the world will benefit because of the money raised, so be proud!
If you are inspired by Adam and would like to donate to my World Race trip all you have to do is click the link “Financially Support Me” to the left. Every dollar counts. No amount is too small.
I also want to say a quick thank you to all those who have supported me financially so far. I am very appreciative and am excited for you all to take this journey with me through my blog!
