Dear Supporters,
Many of you have emailed me about sending care packages…As much as I would ABSOLUTELY appreciate that there is really nothing that I’m in need of. There are plenty of things that I want…However, I have more than I need and usually way more than any of the people that I meet.
HOWEVER, I have the perfect opportunity for you to use any money that you would have spent on a care package….And it will go much further in impacting the next generation than me receiving a Cherry Coke or package of Peanut Butter M n’ M’s…..I have gotten to know an inspirational group of young people between the ages of 15-20 years old this month…They have all grown up in Touch Village and have ALL accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior in the past couple of years. They have chosen to follow after Jesus despite the fact that they have all been raised Buddhist. There is nobody at home keeping them accountable in reading their Bibles, attending church, attending youth group, etc. However, they all choose to do these things. I personally think this is an incredible group of young people that WILL impact their families and village.
Every Sunday we to preach to the congregation of the little church here in Touch Village. The oldest person that attends the church is about 23 years old. Therefore, these young people are the people bringing Jesus Christ to this village. Vuthy (our contact this month) desires to develop a deep sense of community among these young people. Therefore, he would like to have a one-night retreat on the coast of Cambodia. The approximate cost of transporting, feeding, and housing the 30 youth would be around $500. Vuthy is only asking for $5 from each young person, which still leaves quite a bit of money left over. He is praying and believing that the Lord will cover the cost. All the young people are also faithfully praying that they will have the $5 to attend the retreat. During house visits yesterday we discovered many of the youth cannot afford to pay the $5 to attend the retreat.
I believe in the ministry that is happening here in Touch Village. I wish that I had the money to cover the cost of the retreat so that all the young people could attend without concern. However, I do not have the money and neither do my teammates. We have prayed about this and are coming to you all, our supporters, to sponsor 1 teenager in this village…Or 2 or 3….Whatever the Lord calls you to give. Your money will go to help in developing a strong sense of community within the only believers in this village. This community of young believers WILL impact their village and bring the love of Jesus Christ to the youngest of the village and the oldest of the village.
If you believe God is calling you to sponsor a young person in Cambodia please follow the directions below:
1. Do NOT deposit your donation into my World Race support account.
2. Please write a check out to Emily Fagerstrom and send it to 9221 71st Ave SE, Lake Lillian, MN 56253. My mom will sign the check and deposit it into my bank account. I will then be able to withdraw the money here in Cambodia and give it directly to Vuthy.
3. Email me and let me know that you are sending a check. (Very Important!) The trip is in one week. However, as long as the money is sponsored we will still be able to take the youth on the trip, even if the money is a bit delayed.
Thank you for your continued support! Please be praying for this retreat that I believe WILL take place this coming weekend. Pray that these youth develop a sense of community that will be used to further the Kingdom of God in Touch Village!
Emily
