We are obviously exhausted after a typical day on the island. We are covered in bug bites, I’ve been stung by a jelly fish and it is HOT.
A typical day of gardening is long and sweaty and wonderful. We spend much of our time picking guavas, limes, star fruit, hog plums, squash and much much more.
We weed. We use a machete. We compost.
This is no small garden.
I am convinced they grow every fruit and vegetable under the sun.
Sometimes it is hard to know that the labor is making a difference for the Kingdom.
But it is.
It is when we eat the squash that we picked that morning for dinner to fuel the ministry of Friend Ships.
Or, when we go to a feeding program for local street kids where the bananas that we picked our now being used to feed the hungry.
God is meeting me in the exhaustion.
He is meeting me in the heat of the day.
God is even meeting me in being stung by a jellyfish.
I have no strength to give from myself.
It has got to be His strength, or I am toast.
“I will lead the blind by a way they do not know,
In paths they do not know I will guide them.
I will make darkness into light before them,
And rugged places into plains.
These are the things I will do,
And I will not leave them undone.”
Isaiah 42:16
God has and is leading me in a way that I do not know. I am cannot see the way, but He has a path set before me. He is making darkness into light before me. He promises to not leave these things undone.
I’m tired.
I’m broken.
I’m not in control.
And, there is no place I’d rather be.
And, the crazy thing is, that this is where God wants us.
He wants us there, so that He can be the one that gives us strength.
So that He can be in control.
God is good and His plan will not go undone.
Amen.
