I think it was only by the grace of God that I didn't get to say goodbye to the little girl that captured my heart this month. God knew how hard it would be to say goodbye to a beautiful friend that changed my life.
Meet Alejandra

Alejandra captured my heart this month.
This 6-year old girl from Patzibal, Guatemala played a vital role in revitalizing my barely beating soul. God used Alejandra to begin bringing me back to life again. God knew that I would need a sweet spirit like Alejandra for Him to begin doing His work in me and through me again.
Every day, upon arriving in Patzibal — Alejandra would greet me by running to me with her arms wide open exclaiming, "Emilia Maria!"

Her joyful spirit brought joy to my spirit.
Her smile made me smile.
Whether Alejandra knows it or not, the Kingdom of God rests in her.
God used Alejandra, and the Kingdom within her, to bring me closer to Himself.
Alejandra knew where to find us every day.
And every day, her joyful spirit lifted me to a greater intimacy with God.
It was when I giggled with Alejandra that God began a healing work in my soul. He reminded me of the importance of life, even just one precious life.

God used Alejandra to remind me just how much He, Himself, loves me. With arms wide open, running to me, welcoming me and calling me by name.
Alejandra didn't question my past. She didn't care where I came from. Heck, we could barely communicate between the language barrier!
But, what brought Alejandra and I together over the last three weeks?
LOVE.
It was love that drew us to one another.
Love, itself, transcends ALL understanding.
It didn't matter if we could speak the same language or not, because it was love that bound us together.
Alejandra never missed a beat in coming to see us, except for today.
Today, I didn't get to say goodbye to the one that God used to begin a transformation in my heart. I'm still wrestling with why she did not show up today — but I know that God has a purpose in it.
God brought Alejandra and I together for a short season and that season is over.
I'm sad. I fell in love with the little bundle of joy that she is.
Alejandra changed my life. And my prayer is that I made a difference in hers.
I am confident of this — we will recognize each other in heaven.

"But Jesus said, 'Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.'"
Matthew 19:14
