Dear Friends and Family,
The past month has been full of transitions and changes. I have officially ended my second to last semester of college! I moved out of my on-campus apartment and am now living in Chicago with my family until December 26th. Only a few more days until I travel to Jamaica!
On December 27th, my team and I will fly out together. I can’t wait to see what God will do in and through all of us as we host kids’ camps and participate in street evangelism. I look forward to filling next month’s newsletter with all kinds of stories about what God is doing in Jamaica. Please pray that God will prepare our hearts and the hearts of those we will encounter during those 2 weeks.
When I return from Jamaica, I will fly out to the Dominican Republic on January 9th to spend my last semester student teaching at Santiago Christian School. I will be in a 2nd grade classroom teaching in English but working with mostly Spanish speaking students. I have only 1 native English speaker in my classroom and 2 who speak a language other than Spanish or English. Please be in prayer that I will be able to communicate with and teach my students effectively during the months I am there.
When I return to the United States at the end of April, I will begin preparing to graduate at the beginning of May, with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I will then spend the rest of the school year substituting in Palm Beach County, nannying and fundraising for my next adventure, The World Race, in August.
The World Race is a missions program that takes participants to 11 countries over the course of 11 months. If you would like more information on why I decided to join this program take a look at the “About” page on my blog at emilybrowning.theworldrace.org. In order to participate in the program, I am going to need a lot of support both prayerfully and financially. As I always say, I am blessed by your financial support but I am far more blessed by your prayers. If you pray and feel led to help me financially, you may want to participate in my “Sponsor a…” program. You may sponsor a day ($50), week ($360) or month ($1,580). When you sponsor a day, week or month I will set aside an envelope with your name on it. I will then fill that envelope with stories, pictures and whatever else I gather from that day, week or month. At the end of my trip I will send those envelopes to you so that you can see how your gift impacted lives across the globe. If you do not want to participate in this program but you still would like to give, you may do that as well. All you need to do is either click the “Support me” button on my blog (link posted above) or send a check made out to Adventures in Missions with my name in the memo. If you received this through snail mail, I have included my fundraising card which has instructions on how to send the check to the organization. My $5,000 deadline is coming up quickly and my $10,000 deadline will follow soon.
Please partner with me in prayer as I prepare my heart for what God has in store for me as I go. Please also pray that I will trust in Him to provide as I spend the next several months working diligently to raise support.
Thank you all so much for what you have done to help me in my journey so far. God bless!
In Him,
Emily B.
