For the longest time I was very perturbed by change. I didn’t like changing teachers in school, I didn’t like the transfer from middle school into high school. I didn’t like when one of my friends and I were fighting or when anyone would move even an hour away.
Change is inevitable, but for my whole life I couldn’t embrace change.
That is until I decided that life was so much more than just going to work and then going to sleep day in and day out.
God revealed to me that he created such an incredible world out there and His people are all over it. There are different religions, cultures, diversity and opinions. Even the people I travel with and spend every day with have come from many different backgrounds.
They are teachers, nurses, engineers, accountants and the list just goes on. They grew up in Christian households and broken homes. They found Jesus at a young age or they didn’t find Jesus until they were much older.
We all followed a calling that God placed on our hearts in different ways to go into the world and make disciples of all nations. To go out and change the world.
There are things at home that have been changing even while I’ve been on the race that I have had to come to terms with while being on the race. Just the other day I had a conversation with someone who is dealing with some changes in their life and it’s rough.
Overcoming that fear of change is something that God has been revealing to me so much. Everyday on the race something is changing // we had a specific ministry plan and at the very last minute it got changed. We were all supposed to ride on the same bus from one country to another, but at the last minute the tickets fell through and we had to change to another bus. We are always meeting new people and shortly after having to say goodbye to them. At the end of every month we are submerged in a completely new and different culture.
It’s all around us all the time.
Although there are definitely times that I struggle with change I am becoming to understand that change is not bad. Change happens so God is able to reveal new nuggets of wisdom. To instill in us something that we won’t be able to forget. Change happens because sometimes we aren’t in very good situations and he wants to bring us out of them.
Change is hard, but it is also worth it.
