There are so many things we take for granted..

I got home from training camp late Saturday night. As I was driving I had a lot of time to reflect on what had happened in the last 10 days.
(It’s been a week now, I’ve just been procrastinating this blog)..

We ate crazy foods most of the time without knowing what they were..
-egg that tasted like chicken broth with plain white rice
-rice with chicken and some crazy curry sauce (which we ate with our hands *insert shocked emoji here*)
-crickets, good for protein I hear..

Every time we sat down to eat all we talked about was the food we didn’t have.
Yet, we actually had food to eat..
There are people all over who would kill for the food that we had in front of us, because at least it would be something.
So when you’re eating, say thank you to the one who provides. Because it could be worse.

BUCKET SHOWERS // not a favorite for many
There was a form of running water, but not what we were used to. Showers didn’t come hot and water pressure wasn’t a thing..
It was cold, some days worse than others and on windy days… Well let’s just say people became a little closer than what they may have bargained for.

So many times we complain about not having enough water pressure or running out of hot water, but at least we get to take showers.
We have the privilege of being in an enclosed room with sometimes just lukewarm water and a little bit of water pressure.. And how glorious is it when we get out and we feel so clean!

Worship // gosh, honestly one of the greatest times of worshipping through song that I’ve EVER experienced. There was so much power behind it and everyone was so genuine in the way they worshipped.
From hand motions to jumping up and down to swaying so hard you almost fell over. I’ve never seen anything like it.
People abandoning their comfort zones to truly dance like David danced! It was incredible!

Community // Let me just start by saying WOW!
From the staff at adventures, to the volunteers, to the 54 people I get to spend a year with.. It will be one of the greatest communities ever.

The Adventures staff as so friendly, always had a smiles on their faces and they were always so willing to help. Whether that be helping you find something, or talking through a deep hurt or concern you have. They are incredible and I’m so happy to have got to experience that amazing community.
The volunteers were the same. They were there on their own time to help feed us and keep the grounds clean.

My sQuad.. At first I was a bit frightened by having to meet all of them, but as the week went on I knew that was where I was supposed to be. These people are ready to abandon all their comforts and go out and be the hands and feet of Jesus. I could not be more excited to work along side them for a year.
It’s not going to be easy by any means, but with them.. It will be SO worth it.

Closing thoughts // Leaving home is never easy. You’re leaving behind all your comforts, your safety zone and all of the people that you love. But when God calls you to do something, you do it!
More than anything I know this is where God has called me to be in this season of my life. It’s not going to be what I’m used to, and I’m sure at times I will feel like I want to come home, BUT God’s got the whole world in his hands. He knows us down to the number of hairs on our heads.. So I have no doubt in my mind that my best interests are in his hands too.

I could not be more excited to start this journey!
