Well, we’ve been in Peru for almost one week now.  It has been different than any other month.  All four teams from Squad A are working together for the month.  It is exciting to be together yet it poses its own challenges as well.  We are divided into two different houses in the city of Villa El Salvador, which is on the southside of Lima.  I have to admit I pictured Peru to be very lush and very green with mountains and jungles.  I guess it is like that in many places, but in Villa El Salvador, it is very dry and dusty.  Below is a picture that Ryan took.  Behind the bus is the church that we are working with.

it's freakin desert here! not was i thought it was gonna be at all

Pastor Moises asked us to lead the church service on Sunday night.  I think the service went really well.  Spano whipped together a worship team made up of Jimmy, Joy, BriEllyn, Megan, Chris, and Ginger.

we led worship for their sunday night service (their main service)

Katie, Becca, and Ryan gave testimonies and John gave the main message.  It was fun to be a part of the service.  The people in this church love to praise the Lord!  Many times after the service the front of the sanctuary turns into a dance party.  It is fun to be a part of!

We have also been visiting a nearby village called Llomo de Corvina.  It is a poor area up on the ridge of a hill.  It has been built on a sand dune and is somewhat of a hike up to the village.  We are working to plant a church there with the help of the church that we are working with.  The past two days we have walked around the village meeting people, sharing the gospel, and explaining the plan for the new church.  The people are excited about us being there.  I am looking forward to building relationships with the people there!

Finally, our other ministry so far was going into the schools.  It is very different here than in the U.S.  The schools invited us to come and present to them.  We visited two different schools yesterday where we performed a drama and gave the gospel message.  It was awesome to watch the children soak in the truth!  Many children entered into personal relationships with Christ yesterday!

Our plan for the next few weeks is to continue to encourage and support the church, make relationships and physically build the church in Llomo de Corvina, speak in schools, attend church cell groups, and plan special children’s festivals and sports days.  Thank you for your continued prayers!
