This month my team and I are living in Port Elizabeth, South Africa working with an organization called Love Story. Love Story exists to love the least of these in practical ways. They have soup kitchens, preschools, food delivery, baby homes and so much more. They are a group of people who is truly dedicated to being the hands and feet of Jesus.
My favorite ministry this month has been City Feed. Monday-Friday at 6:00pm Love Story brings food for the homeless in Port Elizabeth. They share a little testimony/message and they give them food to help them for the day. The best part for me though is watching the relationships that they have built with the people. They know their stories and care about their lives. They love them well and they want to see them succeed. It is precious to see and such a blessing to be a part of.
This month has been such a gift! It has been a special treat from Jesus. I love the ministry we are doing, the people we are doing life with, and the location. This month has been a treat for our team. I feel like the motto this month has been “work hard, play hard.” It has been filled with moments of fun and moments of hard work. But the work we are doing is rewarding and the people we do the work with make it fun. Life has been good!!! I know Jesus is pouring out his love on us half way through the Race. He is giving us the rest, refreshment, and refilling we need in order to continue on.
Honestly, it is hard to describe all of the amazing moments of this month in a blog. The best way for me to describe this month is that it has been a month of spoiling and pursuing by Jesus. I have gotten live in a city with the ocean right outside my bedroom window. A gift from Jesus to me because he knows how much I love the beach. He has given me people that I LOVE and am so excited to do life with. The community here is amazing. The way they love Jesus and then others around them is so special. They make you feel loved, important, and valued. The ministry we have had the blessing to be a part of is wonderful. It has filled me with purpose and joy. I love doing what we are doing because I know that what we do really helps and makes a difference.
Like I said, its hard to describe all the goodness of this month. Just know I have LOVED and cherished every second of my time here with Love Story. This month has given me the rest and refreshing I needed to finish out the rest of the Race strong!
