What is it that qualifies a month as good? I have had several good months, but what is that makes for an all around truly good month?
After this last month in Uganda I have realized that there is an attitude and an outlook that has to be in place for a truly good month. I have had month that I especially loved how my team got along, or the country that we were in, or the ministry that we were apart of. But none of it has compared to my month in Uganda.
I went into the month with no expectations, just trying to leave everything open so that I could see how God wanted to use me. The month started out much like any other; introductions, learning about the ministry we would be doing, and settling in to our new home for the month.
When we found out what we were doing for ministry, I began to get a bit upset. Each of us would be teaching English and preaching various times throughout the month.
I was not too thrilled because I am not a confident public speaker and I had never preached or led a classroom on my own before.
But there was no way around it, this is what God had called me to do this month. So I decided that instead of having a poor attitude about it, I was going to try my best to look for his blessings and see how he would have me grow.
For the rest of the month I stepped aside and let God work through, use, and teach me what ever He desired. Once I did that, He was able to use me in ways that I never would have imagined.
Through it I developed a whole new understanding for the phrase, 'My Strength is made perfect in your weakness".
My perfect month did not consist of everything meeting my standards of perfection, nor did everything go smoothly. But my perfect month consisted of me learning how to yield to God in my weaknesses, and when things don't always go the way I would desire.
"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
2 Corinthians 12:9
