I feel that Honduras is spoiling me. I had my preconceived perceptions of what I felt my time on the race would look like and so far everything has been far better then I imagined.

I thought that living on $4 per day for food meant that I would be eating the equivalent to ramen noodles in each country; however, that is not the case by any means. We have been eating like Kings! I love Honduran food: we have had quesadillas, enchiladas, pupusa, and tostadas just to name a few of the meals. My squad has had the option of pitching our tents in a large open room out around the property. My team chose to stay inside so our tents have served as little rooms. I have learned how to hand wash my clothes (and might I just say that if we still had to do this in the Sates I am pretty sure consumerism would practically dissolve over night.)

The ministry site where we have been staying is called Zions Gate. Tony and his wife minister to boys in the community that have been living on the streets of Honduras. They also take in missionary teams (like my World Race Squad) and place them with ministry sites around the city. Over this past week my team and another team from my squad worked together to build a dam for a tilapia farm. The tilapia will be used to bring food and income to the surrounding churches, orphanages, and schools. Though it was hard work to manually build a dam it was amazing to be apart of something that will bring such life to so many people over the next several years.

I cannot believe that a week of the race has already passed me by. The days are long and packed with opportunities to learn and grow. But looking back on the week as a whole, I am having trouble believing that it is all over now and we are moving on to the next ministry project. It just confirms even more how much I need to soak up the time and not take it for granted.

Thank you SO much for your prayers. They are much needed.
Specific requests:
–       Injuries and sickness amongst my squad.
–       I injured my finger and the nail had to be removed. Prayers that it will heal properly and not get infected.
–       Continued growth in openness and community with my teammates.
–       That we will look beyond the projects that we are working on and see the people that are being affected by our work.
–       We will not do anything in pride or for selfish reasons, but that we will have humble spirits.

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; the shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
