Have you ever become annoyed by the dailey talk and facebook statuses of people who complain about having to go back to work? Complaining has always been one of my pet peeves, and it makes me the most frustrated when I hear it from myself. I find it humorous that God understands this irritation aboout me so He continuely gives me jobs that truly satisfy the desires of my heart. Recently I have become a Nanny! I love waking up in the morning to go see the three most beautiful smiling faces. But I have quite the amazing story of how God decided to make this a part of my dailey life.
So while I was in Taiwan working at the orphanage it was such a hardship to be able to play with such wonderful babies and kids, and not be able to play with the ones with special equipment such as feeding tubes. For one, I had no clue how these things opporated, and secondly, I was really scared to break a kid. And so I began to pray, telling God that I would like not to be afraid one day, and also telling Him that I would not mind learning. When I found out I was going to be on the World Race in September I knew that being with orphans was going to play a big part of that. Again the fear arose in me that I might not be able to show God's love to all of the children because of their different needs. One day I found myself praying for a dear friend of mine who was applying for a job with special needs children, and so again I mentioned to God that I was still interested in that. My best friend Taylor in the mean time was praying to be able to work in the same town as me before we leave for separate paths in September. And just like every other prayer- my God answered. I have been so blessed to become a Nanny of three children who have been adopted by a family who gives them so much love. Not only this but I get to work along side with my best friend, in the mornings we serve as Nannies, and in the afternoons and evenings we are serving as Uproom Interns for a local church. God not only answers prayers but always seems to one up me! Love it!
All three of these kids are so special and loving . They each have down syndrome, and their mom never hestitates to teach me how to use a feeding tube, and inhaler, or a walker. I love hearing Kaleb get excited to see me and shout "Em, Em" as I walk in their door. I love learning from working with Anna and how God has used her to rid any of my fears of handling speacial needs. She is such a cuddler and it is so great to be able to do that with her. Then there is 11 month old Elias Jude– he always seems to do something that makes me not be able to hold back a smile. The family is also in the process of adopting little Meadow from China, so please be in prayers that they will be able to go pick her up soon! I sure do not know what God has in store for me on this race but what ever it is I know He is always in the work of preparing me!
John 14:18 – "I will not leave you as orphans, I will come to you"
This is me and Kaleb playing "doctor" at a local Children's museum!

I love his smile!

Kaleb taking me and Anna for a wild ride! WAHOO!

This is Taylor, she just finshed giving herself and Anna face painting! (Taylor is Anna's favorite Nanny- but I will never admit it!)

This is little Elias- always rolling over and always very curious about the amazing world God has created around him!
