As I sit on my bed in a Hotel I can hear the sounds of the Mosque’s call to prayer. That is a sound I will hear 5 times a day for the next 4 weeks here in Malaysia.

My team will be working with the homeless men and women in the state of Penang. We are coming alongside this YWAM operation to give support in whatever way needed. Some days we will be in the kitchen cooking the meals for the “friends” that come in, other days we may just be out to mingle, converse, and build relationships with them. Street ministry will also be involved, as well as helping with the weekend church services.

I am excited to see how the Lord will work this month as my team steps out into new territory for each of us. It’s always amazing to just start what seems like a simple conversation and then watch how the Lord changes it to bring glory to His name. The twist to this month is that Malaysia is a semi-closed country. There is freedom of religion for everyone except those who are of Malay decent. It is actually illegal for them to change their faith or for other people to witness to them.

Please pray this month that God will move in the hearts of those we will meet and have the opportunity to talk with. The Malaysian Indian and Malaysian Chinese will be more willing to hear about the relationship with our Lord and Savior, but for the Malay’s, even if they are interested it won’t be an easy decision for them. Pray that fear of persecution will not affect them from coming to a relationship with our Lord. Pray also for those who have already made that choice and are living an “underground” life here in this country and around the world.

God is going to do amazing things this month and I am excited for you to follow me and my team and support us with your prayers. The great thing about prayer is that you can pray for us even on the other side of the world and can still have such a huge impact. Let’s see what God can do this month as we all join together in prayer for the souls of Malaysia to find what they are searching for; love, grace, mercy, hope, forgiveness, and a relationship that will never end for the rest of eternity. Thank you Jesus for what you did on the cross for each one of us.
