As I sit here on the bus, by a large window that I could easily fit through, I am amazed by the journey God has me on this year.

The wind whipping at my face, sunglasses on to protect my eyes and as the sun is setting I find myself starring out over the Australian bush passing us by. In the far off distance lightning is flashing in bright sheets, while in my ears Shawn McDonald “Here I Am” plays loud to be heard over the wind.
“Here I am tonight, with my arms open wide. Won’t you come inside?” As the chorus plays my arm stretches out the window and fights the push of the wind as I take a moment to be in the presence of my Daddy. How can He not be here? I look at the scenery flashing by my eyes and can do nothing but feel close to the One who created this beautiful world around which I am traveling.

What a blessing; to journey literally around the world, to see so many beautiful places and get to share with those I meet about the One who designed the breathtaking places in which they live.

In New Zealand I had the chance to speak with many Maori people who were so rich in their culture and could share the stories of their ancestors. To hear how even without the Western people and their Jewish stories they still were able to know the Creator. Looking at what was around them, seeing all the amazing things the world had to offer in nature was all they needed. Makes the rest of us want to smack ourselves in the head and wonder why we’re so blind or apathetic to the creation around us. It does me anyway.

We Christians and even those who aren’t want others to prove God exists. We want theology and reason to be given before we believe…but wait. The bible itself speaks of how all one needs to do is look around to see God.

Maybe we could learn by listening to those who were here before the internet, bible colleges, even the printed word. God is here, visible to all who just take a moment to look around them. Look at the sky, the trees, and the many living creatures that are around. I’m ready to get away from modern day and take a step back and look at the world through the eyes of our fathers past and get to know those who today are able to help me do that.

My team is on our way to Katherine, in the Northern Territory. We will have three weeks to get to spend getting to know the Aboriginal people who have stories dating back in Australian history that reaches further than the white men of this country. I can’t wait to see how God will continue to reveal Himself more to me each month.
