Only 7-10% of New Zealanders or “Kiwi’s” are Christians. More than 50% will tell you that they are while most all know the stories of the bible yet are apathetic to the calling of the Lord for a relationship. Our prayer for this country is that their hearts will be softened to the Word and that their eyes and ears will be receptive to what we have to bring them.
Our teams have gone now, each to their own ministry; some are going on a two week hiking trip, others are working with inner city children, while more teams are going to help with the different Christian convention that are happening this month. It is summer break here now so the kids are out of school and the parents are looking for things to do with them. That’s where my team, Team Radiance, comes in. We will be working alongside a ministry doing programs with the children of South Auckland. This will be the next generation for New Zealand. These youth can break the generational apathy that is running rampant here.
I am excited to see what amazing things the Lord will continue to do throughout our January 2010 team, Team Radiance, myself, and the people of New Zealand. A smile comes to my face when I think of all of you back home, those I have met and those I haven’t who can follow along with me and praise God for the things He is doing and is going to do this month, the next 11 months, and to infinity and beyoooond! (had to through some Toy Story in there.)
Prayer Request:
1. Pray for adjustment, in both those of us who have left home and those who will be meeting us and hearing what the Lord has for them.
2. Weather. The weather here can be a bit sporadic, so pray for the weather to be cooperative to the task at hand.
3. Travels. Some teams will be traveling throughout the month, but we will all be traveling multiple times a month while in transition between ministries and countries. Pray for safety and that luggage does not get lost along the way.
So Long For Now,
Ellen
